Membership Experience Manager
Scientific Societies is currently accepting applications for its Membership Experience Manager position. This position is responsible for the membership efforts of three scientific and technical professional associations with overall management responsibility for membership experience and value. We are looking for a creative, strategic, and collaborative membership professional who can work in a fast-paced environment interfacing with internal and external audiences, while directing a membership team in developing, implementing, and executing each association’s integrated strategy to reach member goals and priorities.

Primary Objective of the Position:
Provide leadership and management of membership engagement and volunteer management, through an array of vehicles, for the Master Brewers Association of the Americas, the American Society of Brewing Chemists, the Pink Boots Society and the Society for Sensory Professionals in an effort to build a high level of member value and enhance membership retention and growth. The position supports the advancement of the organizations through innovative membership strategies, by building and encouraging initiatives that positively impact the unique mission and community of each organization.
Major Areas of Accountability:
Membership Engagement
- Develop proactive membership strategy to increase and maintain visibility and engagement with current, lapsed, and prospective members.
- Enhance membership growth through creative implementation of targeted strategies, working with marketing staff to ensure consistent execution of efforts.
- Develop organizational membership priorities by creating unique initiatives and executing effective existing and new membership programs.
- Ensure continual stream of new volunteers and committee leaders into each of the three associations served.
- Monitor membership trends and best practices, conduct research analysis and regular comprehensive membership survey program; track membership statistics.
- Manage membership onboarding, renewal and engagement processes and communications
- Work with Member Communications Manager to develop content strategy and editorial calendars for member communications with creation and utilization of key messages for each organization through websites, emails, presentations, etc.
- Oversee annual meeting/tradeshow member engagement and acquisition material development and execution
Volunteer Management
- Coordinate and support program/committee management management of membership efforts for outreach, international, job centers, mid-career, and student/early career initiatives. Serve as staff liaison and coordinate initiatives of member-driven committees to enhance member engagement; manage various committee projects, provide budget updates/status reports, handle logistics of meetings, and prepare materials for multiple committees
- Fufill member volunteer leaders’ requests for support on an as needed basis. Provide prompt and efficient response and resolution to each inquiry
Supervision of Others:
- None upon hire, but future supervisory responsibility for the membership team may be required
Qualitfication Requirements:
- BA/BS in Communications, Business Administration, Public Relations
- Minimum of 5-8+ years related work experience, with experience managing membership organizations, loyalty programs, or similar opt-in or subscription initiatives.
- Professional association experience either in a previous work position or as a member or Board member strongly preferred.
- Ability to work and thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple projects under tight deadlines; eager to create and achieve activity and reach goals
- Flexible strategic thinker with excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to drive agenda items forward with purpose to develop tangible action items.
- Excellent leadership, collaboration and advising skills
- Passion for new technologies and emerging trends
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, excellent project management techniques, marketing savvy, and advanced computer skills.
- Abiliy to coordinate and administer multi-facted programs and projects; multi-task and work independently and efficiently under deadline; maintain quality focus, work effectively with and gain input from various audiences.
